Freedom Beacon Park
Freedom Beacon Park will transform the north side of the City of Fort Walton Beach into a bustling commerce center bringing jobs, shopping, entertainment, housing, and hotel rooms accommodations. On November 27th, 2018, The Jay Odom Group executed a 50-year ground lease through the U.S. Air Force Enhanced Use Lease Program. Along Eglin Air Force Base’s southern perimeter, the 52-acre tract of land is located at 1900 Lewis Turner Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The Jay Odom group also annexed the property into the city Fort Walton Beach which grants it access to first responder, water, and sewer services which adds new revenue to the City through property taxes, development fees, building permit fees, utility and stormwater usage fees. The Lease also benefits the Air Force by allowing them to collect rent on under-utilized, non-excess Air Force real estate and all rent for the Freedom Beacon Project will be used locally to fund base infrastructure.
The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the property on December 21st, 2018 at 10:00 am.
Hammock Bay General Store
Hammock Bay’s anxiously awaited General Store opened in Hammock Bay’s Town Center in the summer of 2019. Its inspiration came from Freeport’s original general store know as Wards Cafe. The Hammock Bay General Store is a fully functioning throwback replica reminiscent of the small-town feel of turn-of-the-century general stores.
